Deutsche Schule Athen

Deutsche Schule Athen
Founded in 1896, the German School of Athens (DSA) is a prominent "German School Abroad" supported by Germany, focusing on German and Greek languages and cultures. Serving as a cultural and educational hub in Athens, the DSA caters to a diverse community with over 1,120 students from 15+ nationalities, including those with dual citizenship. It offers a curriculum from kindergarten to graduation, aligned with German standards and emphasizing bilingual education in German and Modern Greek. The DSA prepares students for higher education and apprenticeships with recognized degrees like the German International Abitur.
The DSA comprises a kindergarten with preschool for ages 3-6, an elementary school for grades 1-4, and a Gymnasium for grades 5-12, which is further divided into SEKI (grades 5-9) and SEKII (grades 10-12). It is regularly evaluated by the Bund-Länder-Inspektion (BLI) as an "Excellent German School Abroad." Managed by dedicated staff across its levels, the DSA is funded by school fees, activities, donations, and German government support, overseen by the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA). This multicultural environment promotes deep understanding between German and Greek cultures, embodying the essence of a "Begegnungschule" and preparing students for a globalized world.
